Bears

Elk Valley Bighorn Outfitters

Grizzly Bear hunting is done as spring arrives in the mountains in late May and early June. The Elk Valley is the spring breeding ground for grizzly bears, and we consistently view upwards of 50 different bears during the duration of a hunt.  Trophy size on this high success hunt varies from 7’6” to 9’. This is a spot and stalk hunt, as the bears feed in the avalanche paths and on the mountainsides. Grizzly Bear tags are extremely limited, so call for information on availability.

Black bears are also hunted at this time, and the Elk Valley has a high percentage of colour phase bears. Two black bears can be taken per hunter. This is also a spot and stalk hunt as the bears feast on the new spring vegetation.
